DIY Nut Milk

DIY Nut Milk (vegan | gluten-free)

Alternative milks are so much easier to make than people think. We love to make our own plant-based milk because it takes 5 minutes and we know exactly what is in it. In most store-bought milks (dairy and nut milks) there are preservatives and additives like sugar. When you make your own milk at home you just add the nut or grain of choice and water and you've got delicious, healthy milk! You can make milk at home with oats, almonds, walnuts, hemp seeds, or macadamia nuts. Lately we have been loving cashew milk so that's what we feature below - but swap out cashews for the ingredient of your choice and you've got your own homemade milk! Scroll down to watch a quick how-to video showing how easy it is to make cashew milk.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Add cashews and water to a high speed blender* and blend on high until pulverized (around 2 minutes).
  2. Optional: Pour through cheese cloth to remove pulp. Store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator. (We don't pour through cheese cloth because we like thicker milk, but strain according to personal preference.

*If you don't have a high speed blender, just soak cashews overnight before blending.
