Hot Cacao

This healthy, dairy-free take on hot chocolate is guaranteed to get you in the holiday spirit! With only 4 ingredients and 4 steps, this recipe will become a new go-to during the chilly months to come.

Serves: 1

  • 1 c. hot water
  • 1/4 c. cashews
  • 1 date
  • 1 Tbs. cacao powder
  • Dash of cinnamon


  1. In a high-speed blender, blend together the hot water, cashews, and date for 30-35 seconds.
  2. Strain the "milk" through a nut milk bag or fine mesh strainer. Transfer the milk to a small sauce pan, and place over medium heat.
  3. While the milk is heating on the stove, add the cacao powder and cinnamon.  
  4. Serve with whipped cream (for a dairy-free version, try our coconut whipped cream!), cacao nibs, and cinnamon on top!
