Chocolate Nut Milk

"Chocolate Milk" (aka Cacao Nut Milk!)

Sun & Swell's version of chocolate milk!

 Ingredients:

  • 3 Cups Water
  • 1 Cup Cashews, Walnuts, or Almonds (or any other nut of choice!)
  • 1/4 Cup Cacao**
  • 4 Tbsp Date Syrup***
  • 1 tsp Vanilla (optional)
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon (optional)

Directions:

Mix all ingredients in a high speed blender*, and enjoy!

Important Notes:

*A high speed / high power blender like a Vitamix or Blendech will blend everything into a smooth, milk like consistency.  If you don't have a higher-tech blender, soak your nuts overnight so they break down easier in your blender.  Also, most nut milk recipes suggest that you strain your nut milk through a cheese cloth or thin towel to separate the pulp.  I prefer not to do that because, 1) I like my nut milk thicker, 2) don't want to waste the yummy nutrients in pulp!, and 3) it takes too long!.... so I skip this step.  But if you prefer it this way - first mix the Water + Nuts, strain, and then add all the other ingredients.

**Start with 1/4 Cup cacao, and taste.  If you want it more chocolatey - add a little more.  I personally prefer 1/2 Cup but that's too much for my husband.  A little goes a long way so be careful!

***Start with 4 Tbsp and if you want sweeter, add more.  You can sub date syrup for honey or maple syrup, and cashews/almonds for any other nut of choice
