3- Ingredient "Nutella" Spread

3-Ingredient "Nutella" (vegan, gluten-free)

We can all agree that Nutella is delish. So naturally, we had to recreate our own, healthy version of it! Using only 3 simple, whole food ingredients, this healthy substitute for Nutella will have anyone fooled. Perfect to spread on toasts, add to ice cream, or use as a frosting for desserts. 
  • 1 C hazelnuts
  • 1/4-1/2 C coconut sugar
  • 2 Tbsp cacao powder
  • 1/4 C water


  1. Roast the hazelnuts (bake @ 300 degrees for 20 minutes). Let hazelnuts cool, then remove skins (they'll slide right off).
  2. Put hazelnuts in a food processor or high speed blender, and mix until it starts to form a butter.
  3. Add 1/4 C coconut sugar, cacao powder, and water, and blend until smooth. If needed to make spread smoother, add more water (slowly - a little goes a long way!). If you'd prefer sweeter, add up to another 1/4 C coconut sugar.
  4. Refrigerate before serving (you can also eat without refrigeration - it just may be extra creamy!)
